Looking for a writing coach? I work with memoir writers on either short or book-length works of memoir or literary nonfiction. On occasion, I also work on book proposals.
What I love about coaching is helping you make your writing as powerful (and beautiful) as you would like it to be.
In addition to my 30 years of experience as a professional writer and 23 years of experience teaching memoir, I have a deep background in English literature, including a BA in Literature from Yale University and an Andrew D. White Fellowship in Comparative Literature from Cornell University.
For many years, I have also been a book critic for publications ranging from the New York Times Book Review to The Nation, Salon, Kirkus, and the Village Voice. I have served as a judge for three book awards.
